Adrian Tchaikovsky was born in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire before heading off to Reading to study psychology and zoology. He subsequently ended up in law and has worked as a legal executive in both Reading and Leeds, where he now lives. Married, he is a keen live role-player and has trained in stage-fighting and historical combat. He maintains a keen interest in history and the biological sciences, especially entomology.
Alan Campbell was born in Falkirk, Scotland, and attended Edinburgh University where he studied Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. He is the author of six novels – SCAR NIGHT, IRON ANGEL, GOD OF CLOCKS, SEA OF GHOSTS, THE ART OF HUNTING – and two novellas, LYE STREET and DAMNATION FOR BEGINNERS. His work is published by Pan MacMillan in the UK and Random House in the USA, and has been translated into numerous languages.
Anna Smith Spark is the author of the Empires of Dust grimdark epic fantasy series The Court of Broken Knives, The Tower of Living and Dying and The House of Sacrifice; the standalone A Woman of the Sword; and the folk horror high fantasy The Making of This World Ruined series which begins with A Sword of Bronze and Ashes; and is co-author of the grimdark fantasy horror In The Shadow Of Their Dying. Her work has been described as ‘a masterwork’ and ‘awe-inspiring’. She’s dyslexic, dyspraxic, ASD, PhD; previous jobs include English teacher, fetish model and petty bureaucrat. You may know her by the heels of her shoes.
China Miéville is the author of several books, including This Census-Taker, Embassytown, Perdido Street Station and The City & The City (recently adapted by the BBC). His non-fiction includes London’s Overthrow and October: The Story of the Russian Revolution. He has won various awards, including the World Fantasy Award and the Arthur C Clarke Award (three times). He has been a MacDowell and Lannan Residency Fellow, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. He is a founding editor of the journal Salvage.

Ian Green is a fantasy and science fiction writer born in Aberdeen, Scotland, currently based out of Algiers. He has a PhD in clinical epigenetics from Imperial College London.
J.S. Emery is a brother-sister writing team, born in North Idaho into a homeschooling family of seven children, each of whom received an air rifle and a copy of The Odyssey by way of a fifth birthday present. This background prepared them wonderfully for writing fantasy novels but very poorly for formal education. After dropping out of secondary school, they worked jobs including ballet dancer, emergency room janitor, and map librarian in various parts of Europe and North America. They now live in the United States, where they are godparents (and, increasingly, dungeon masters) to one another’s children.
Jack Schouten is a science fiction and fantasy author, editor, and journalist, whose work has appeared in Clarkesworld Magazine, Shoreline of Infinity and many independent presses. His novelette Sephine and the Leviathan was republished in Baen Books’ Best Miliatry SF of the Year, after acclaim from independent presses, and recorded in audio format for the Clarkesworld podcast. He lives and works in Nottingham.
M John Harrison was born in Rugby, Warwickshire, in 1945.
